Sergey Shutov
Born in 1955 in Potsdam, Germany. Artist, the spectre of his artistic media varies from painting, graphic and sculpture to photography, audi- and videoinstallation.
Since 1978 member of the Municipal Committee of Graphic Artists, Moscow. Since 1987 member of the "Hermitage" Association , Moscow. Member of the Mayakovsky Friends' Club. First Academician of Academy of Every Kind of Arts (Moscow-Leningrad). Since 1989 head of the Graphic Art Section at the Free Academy (Moscow). Since 1993 President of the Institute of Art Technology. Since 1994 Practical Work Supervisor at the Moscow Art Laboratory of New Media.
Worked in the State Museum of Fine Arts and in the East Art Museum, lectured in the Moscow Planetarium, worked in the Moscow Zoo. Collaborated with the Radio Station (106,8), was the first Russian VJ-artist (Ptyuch Club), an actor and the artist of the ASSA film. Musician, participant of the Popular Mechanic, author of the soundtrack for "Doctor Caligari's Cabinet " film (with Timur Novikov). Author of "1998" music album.
In 2001 represented Russia at the 49-th Venice Biennial with the installation ABACUS. In 2002 nominant of the State Award (Russia).
Lives and works in Moscow.
